Ilminster Town Centre
Ilminster Carnival is a vibrant, time-honoured procession held annually in October that transforms our town centre into a glowing spectacle. It’s part of the South Somerset Federation of West Country Carnivals, where dazzling illuminated carts—some stretching up to 100 feet and adorned with thousands of light bulbs—move through the streets alongside majorettes, dancers, and musicians.
When and Where
Save the date: Saturday 4 October 2025, at approximately 7:15 pm, is when Ilminster Carnival will roll through our town, through Silver Street and onto Station Road.
Road Closures
The town centre, station road and connecting roads will be closed to vehicle traffic and effectively pedestrianised until 23:00. So if you are driving in to see the carnival or are planning to travel through, then it's advisable to plan ahead.
