Is Ilminster a nice place to live?

Ilminster is a small town in South Somerset with a population of about 5,000 - 6,000. Don't let it's small size put you off from visiting though.  It has many great attributes that make it a wonderful place to live.

Raising a family in Ilminster

Despite it's small size, Ilminster is an amazing place to raise a family. It's central park and recreational grounds has plenty of facilities and play grounds to keep them entertained. The park also plays host to events throughout the year such as; The Ilminster classic car show, Dog show, Fireworks night, Carnivals and fayre's. Within short distance of Ilminster you also have locations such as Chard, Yeovil and Taunton with additional entertainment options. There are also plenty of younger kids groups, such as music bugs, sensory classes and toddler groups all within Ilminster.

Schools In Ilminster

Like the majority of schools in Somerset, there is quite a lot of change and merging within the schools in Ilminster. However, the schools in their current format are well performing schools and cater from pre-school age children right up to year 6. With the nearest secondary school being in Chard.

Shopping In Ilminster

Ilminster benefits from a lovely town centre steeped in history, with many lovely graded buildings, pubs and of course the Minster Church. It's high street is bursting with character and plenty of independent shops, cafes and pubs. Whilst parking is limited, it's worth grabbing a coffee in one of it's many cafes and enjoying the views.
