Ilminster’s Artistic Side: From Crafts to Culture

Ilminster may be modest in size, but it punches above its weight when it comes to creativity. At its heart is the Ilminster Arts Centre, housed in the former Unitarian Church, which has become a cultural beacon in the area.

The centre hosts a rotating calendar of art exhibitions, from local painters and photographers to nationally recognised names. There's also live music ranging from jazz and folk to classical recitals.

Workshops are regularly held on topics such as painting, writing, pottery and printmaking—appealing to both amateurs and seasoned creatives.

Beyond the Arts Centre, Ilminster also celebrates creativity through local makers, vintage fairs, and the much-loved Literary Festival.
